We realised that it wasn’t *too* big of a drive from Queenstown to Mt Cook, so we bundled up in the car and went for an explore through the spine of the South Island.
We decided to walk the Hooker Valley track to the glacial lake, on the way hearing the distant rumbles of avalanches.
